These laws have outlived their usefulness, says Patricia Hahn of Birmingham, Michigan, but they’re still on the books.
• In Idaho Falls, Idaho, it’s against the law for anyone 88 years of age or older to ride a motorcycle in town.
• In Binghamton, New York, it’s illegal for ninth-graders to wear mustaches to school.
• In Winston-Salem, North Carolina, it’s against the law for children under age 7 to go to college.
• In Vermont, it’s illegal to whistle underwater
• In Lexington, Kentucky, it’s against the law to carry an ice cream cone in your pocket.
• In Key West, Florida, it’s unlawful to race your turtle against a friend’s.
• In Hartford, Connecticut, it’s against the law to cross the street while walking on your hands.
• In Louisiana, a law gives you the right to grow as tall as you like.

These are so funny. Why would they have these silly laws?
HI,
I don”t know about you all, but it really makes me wonder about the quality of those politicians that wrote those utterly stupid laws! However, compared to today”s laws that take away our liberties, I”ll take those silly ones any day.
LENNY RICH
I completely agree with you, Lenny!
These are hilarious! I’m sure there’s reasons behind all of them. The only one I know the reason behind is Kentucky’s “Ice cream cone” law.
Back when horses were the primary source of travel, people would steal them by sticking an ice cream cone in their back pockets and the horse would just follow them. That way it didn’t look like stealing.
In Okla. if a woman drives a car, a man has to run in front of her yelling ” WOMAN DRIVER” LOL
wouldn’t it be fun to find out the reasons for these silly sounding laws?
These may seem silly, but how about this one.
One state (I forget which one) required that when a woman drove a motor vehicle, a man would have to walk about 100 feet ahead with a lantern or flag to warn all approaching traffic. Now can’t you just picture some poor man trying to do that today?
