Santa suits up as salesman in vintage ads

With the holiday shopping season in full swing, we take a look at our favorite sleigh-riding spokesman in a collection of vintage ads from the 1940s, '50s and '60s.

When it comes to Christmas presents, there’s no better salesman than Santa himself. The jolly man in the red suit has endorsed everything from lightbulbs and vacuum cleaners to Budweiser beer over the years. We’re sharing some of St. Nick’s most memorable vintage ads and sales pitches from the past century. Ho, ho, ho!

Our most prized family ventage Christmas item is a 2o inch tall Santa which looks exactly like the one pictured for Coke in picture 5. My father brought him home to his first granddaughter in 1958 . She is now 55 and we have a photo of each of my three children and four grand children when they could sit up on the hearth hugging Santa. We did not have a fireplace when it was my third child’s turn so I made one out of cardboard boxes and red brick printed crepe paper. I feel sure it will be the hottest contested item from my household when I am gone and for sure the most worn !
