Vintage postcards sent warm New Year’s wishes

We ring in the new year with a selection of vintage postcards from the early 1900s, once sent to loved ones for good luck.

It’s been nearly a century since these cheerful New Year’s postcards were sent to loved ones, but their sentiments are still echoed today.

Thankfully my mother-in-law, her mother, and her grandmother were savers, and my husband and I were blessed to be able to buy the family home. On the same property was my mother-in-laws house (which my son now owned) and a small house that my mother-in-law’s grandmother had lived in in her later years. Over the years, as we have cleaned out these houses we found many treasures, among them is a huge collection of postcards, many of which you have pictured here. There was also a collection of Valentine ‘calling cards’ with many family names engraved on them. I love these items and have framed quite a few of them. My favorites being the collection of Valentine ‘calling cards’ and the pop-up Valentine cards. Thanks for sharing your images and reminding me how blessed I am for having relatives who chose to save these beautiful memories.
